About Master Boswell

In 1998 , Master Ron Boswell came to Olive Branch to share a dream of not just a traditional martial arts facility, but one that would offer the structure and discipline of taekwondo while incorporating the latest trends in fitness and development. A part of the American Taekwondo Association, Master Boswell’s ATA Black Belt Academy teaches the forms, weapons, and sparring of Songahm taekwondo. Students are also able to compete in local, regional, national tournaments including the World Championships tournament which is held each summer.
Master Boswell began taking taekwondo more than twenty-five years ago with his son. What started as a hobby for him and his son soon turned into a passion and eventually a career. Under his instruction, over one hundred students have gone on to complete the instructor program. Many of these have opened their own schools as well and are continuing the tradition of the ATA that was taught to them.
Master Boswell received his 6th Degree Black Belt in 2002 which was the first step in his journey toward Mastership. The Mastership Program is an intense year-long process involving rigorous training designed to test each candidate. While undergoing the Mastership process, Master Boswell had the opportunity to climb Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas along with Grand Master Soon Ho Lee.
At various points along the climb the Master candidates completed workouts and endurance activities. Upon successful completion of the Mastership program, Master Boswell was given his title of Master Instructor at the 2003 World Championships during the traditional Master's Ceremony. Over 100 students, friends, and family members were there to cheer him on that evening!
Master Boswell has a great admiration for his instructor and mentor, Grand Master Soon Ho Lee, and believes in his saying "There is always more to learn." Because there is always more to learn and just as Master Boswell encourages all his students to continue their training, he too does not stop training to move forward. In continuing his training, Master Boswell will be testing for his next rank of 7th Degree Black Belt in Orlando, FL at the ATA Fall Nationals Tournament to be held in October, 2010."
